Adventure: In Which Our Tent Literally Collapses

Whelp, it's been quite a last 48 hours.  Certainly adventurous.

Huge boats come in and out Port Aransas very frequently.

This is a blue man-o-war!  Sadly, there were many of these that washed up on shore.

Yesterday afternoon Eric and I went parasailing!  It was incredible.  It was actually quite calming, and so pretty!

Goodbye, boat!

This is what it looks like from below.  Not as exciting.

After parasailing, and the post-parasailing drinks at the marina, we went back to our tent to find one of our tent poles had snapped.  This had actually happened earlier in the week, which we patched up with a small extra pole that covered the snap, but this was the second break, so no way to fix it.  Yes, we forgot duct tape.  No, we will never forget duct tape again.  We start getting ready to crash in our lopsided tent and see lightning in the distance, so we put up our confusing and complicated rainfly in the crazy wind and settle in.  We're about to fall asleep when our OTHER pole snaps.  Sigh.  So we climb out of the tent that has now crashed on top of us, pull our things out as the rain comes down, and attempt to find a hotel.  We drove about 45 minutes to Corpus Christi and crashed at a really gross motel at 1:30 in the morning.  So...not exactly as planned.  Oh well.  We're in a new hotel and a comfy bed now, so yay!  Tomorrow we'll hang out in Corpus Christi for a bit and then head north to San Antonio.

Remember, kids.  Always bring duct tape.

  2. Now you know why the Greenfields pack the duct tape even before their underwear! Funny story.
